Harold Haskell Brown born nov 4,1872 boston learned to fly augusta,ga and dayton,oh 1911 us fai cert #58 in who who in aviation 1942 pg 60 great site, thanks wayne at larryhillelson@hotmail.com ps what is the status of the eb society and their archives? Editor's Note: My thanks to Wayne for these tidbits of information. According to my information, the Early Birds was planned as a "Last Man Out" organization. Although there had been an "Associate Members" group, after the death of the "last man", George D. Grundy Jr., in May 19, 1998, the society ceased to function with any regularity. However, I am told that a contract has been let to a man in Washington, D.C. to write the definitive book on the Early Birds. He has access to the materials in the Smithsonian Institute. Unfortunately, the collections of many of the Early Birds are scattered all over the country, many in official repositories, others in the hands of relatives or collectors. |
