NADESHDA DEGTEREVA AKA Nadedja Degtereva

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES via email from Dave Lam, 9-29-03      Ukranian (born in Kiev), who joined the Russian air force while pretending to be male. Flew on the Galacian Front. She was wounded in aerial combat in 1915, and when her sex was discovered, she became a national heroine. She recovered, and then rejoined the air force on the Caucasus front.
