English March 21, 1910: Harry Houdini, the famous illusionist who was capable of freeing himself from a thousand chains while submerged in water, soloed in his Voisin airplane for a distance of 10 km in Melbourne, Australia, where every night he was a big hit with his amazing programme. Probably he wanted to see if he could perform his most famous conjuring trick even more spectacularly. He planned to bind himself to his airplane and then to free himself from it while flying at a low altitude. |
