Young Inventor Guides His
Aeroplane Through Dif-
ferent Evolutions
Thaddeus Kerns, Chico's youthful aviator, made a flight that would
have been the enby of many a professional had they seen the boy rise from a starting point in a field across
from the A. E. Moron residence on the Shasta road yesterday afternoon shortly after 3 o'clock, soar with the
ease of a bird to a height of about 100 feet and travel without mishap for what is estimated to have been a
distance of two miles in the idredtion of the foothills, make a perfedt5 trun, and proceed back to th starting
point, on the back trip performing a number of divvicult evolutions.
Bwefore alighting he made what is known as a "Figure Eight" turn, an evolution
very hazardous in its nature, and one usually attempted only by professionals of long experience. The flight
was at the instance of Oroville people, who journeyed to this city specially to witness the progress Kerns has
made with his aeroplane of home construction.
Thaddeus Kerns' friends and admirers are hoping that he will not get too reckless
with that figure 8 flight, but will stick to the figure One.
