Bertell W. King, head of his own marine surveying business at 17 Battery Place, New York, died Thursday May 23, 1968 at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He was 81 years old and lived at 37 Rutland Road, Brooklyn. He was married to the late Marguerite Nelson King.
Bert King was a champion bicycle racer, oarsman, and welterweight wrestler for the New York Athletic and Nautilus Clubs. He was also an early pilot, having learned to fly at the Curtiss school in Hammondsport, N. Y. in 1913. His solo date was June 4, 1913.
He leaves a son, Bertell, Jr.; a daughter, Mrs Marguerite Sherower; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Comstock and Mrs. Hazel Tillman; and three grandchildren.
