      This page on The Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan website was suggested to me by my friend Paul Dunlop. It tells the story of Ninomiya who was a contemporary of the Wright Brothers and barely missed being one of the first to fly. In 1991, a replica of his Tamamushi, or "Jewel Bug ", was successfully flown for a distance of 136 feet, 16 feet farther than the flight of the Wright Brothers.
